I take a person centred approach to issues that affect babies, children, adolescents and adults. I focus on helping clients to develop ways to use their own strengths to cope with issues, and I counsel entire families when necessary.
My training is based on the belief that people know what they want to do but due to overwhelming circumstances may be unable tot see how to do what they want to do. Given a therapeutic environment of genuineness, unconditional positive regard, respect and being non-judgmental can help the client gain insight and use their strengths to do exactly what they want to do.
I borrow from time to time techniques from other schools of thought to do my work. I take into consideration the fact that individuals are influenced by numerous factors such as environment, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, and culture, and as such, each individual’s issues and potential well-being are unique. I network with other healthcare practitioners as a way of offering a team approach to the health of the whole child.
For infant and child therapy I offer face to face therapy but for adults I conduct online therapy sessions through zoom, skype, telephone and chats.
